Please share a memory of Elissa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elissa Paula Furlong of Spring Hill, Florida and Becket, Massachusetts passed away on
July 27, 2016. She was 83 years old. The mother of seven children, eighteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, Elissa’s joy in life was her family. No child walked into Elissa’s presence without being complemented and made to feel special. No adult knew Elissa without feeling love and acceptance. Through her words and actions, both with those she knew and complete strangers Elissa lived her Christian faith. She truly made the world a more loving, a more accepting place. Born in Norwalk, Connecticut Elissa Memmoli married Richard Furlong on February 1st, 1958. They raised their family in Manhasset, New York where Elissa served as the Munsey Park Village Clerk for many years. Elissa was an avid tennis player and she enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and traveling with family. And, Elissa devoted countless hours over many years to various charities including Birthright, St. Vincent de Paul and others. In all respects she quietly and unceasingly lived the Sermon on the Mount virtues. Elissa’s husband Dick passed in 2011 and she is predeceased by her sister Adrienne and daughterinlaw Toni. She is survived by her daughters Mary (Gregory), Cynthia and her sons Richard, Brian (Terry), John (Mary), Douglas (Elizabeth), Joseph (Angela) and her brother Richard (Cynthia). In lieu of flowers the family asks that Elissa’s beauty be honored with donations to St. Vincent de Paul. “Weeping and aching, we longed to honor your passing. We longed to honor your life. Looking everywhere we found only one answer. To honor ourselves. Become all that we can. And carry you inside that beauty.”
