Dragi naši Angela i Cesare,
Niste sami, svi smo Vam podrška i potpora.
Neka mu Gospodin bude milostiv i dobar. David, budi uvjek Božje dijete i počivaj u miru.
Angela, Cesare i Danny, neka Vas naša ljubav osnaži i prati.
Primite našu iskrenu sućut.
Orestino, Stefica, Barbara, Nataša i Tomislav

I am heart broken to hear about David. I had the honor of working at the family restaurant and David was such a character. There is so much I can say about David but I don't know where to begin..he always made me laugh and he was truly such a wonderful person. His relationship with Danny and his family was one to admire...I am saddened by his passing and my deepest condolences to his parents and Danny. He will be missed

My beloved cousin and godfather to my son,
You were a whiz on stage, on the screen, in the kitchen and on the soccer field.
We grew up next door to each other like brother and sister. We drifted apart for a while then reunited when you returned to New York. I feel lucky to have spent this last Mother's Day with you.
You had a magnetic personality that drew everyone towards you.
You cheered for us on the sports fields and we cheered for you in life, but to no avail.
The thing I will remember most is your ability to entertain, to humor us and to open up your enormous heart.

To dearest Cesare, Angela and Danny:
Bob and I were shocked and saddened to have walked into Giulio-Cesare last evening and learn of your beloved David's death. We had our first date at your restaurant (January 1975) and we always considered it our "home away from home." We met David as a young busboy, and he was always so polite, thoughtful and funny! We loved him and encouraged him in his acting career. What a beautiful boy!
Danny's memorial tribute was beautifully written and a fond farewell to his younger brother. We are heartsick for your loss.
May he rest in peace. Our loving thoughts and prayers are with you.
In Loving Memory,
Mary Opulente Krener xo

Many moons ago, I remember after performing almost every day for a year and a half in “Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding” the director said to me, “Mark, we found another, “Tony.” He’s even more you then you!” “Huh?” Well, when I met him, I can tell you, I was humbled and thought, “Yes, anyone can be replaced.” He was 6 ft 2 and had the looks, as our renowned publicist, David Rothenberg, put it, “He’s the male version of Elizabeth Taylor.” But inside that beautiful physical presence was one of the kindest, sweetest, most beautiful souls. There wasn’t a touch of arrogance or ego in that man. We became great friends. He took over my apartment in New York when I moved to LA with the show. When he moved to LA we ran each other’s door step off and celebrated our victories and defeats together. He had a featured role in, Spike Lee’s “Jungle Fever” playing Annabella Sciorra and Michael Imperioli’s brother. He did TV pilots and had a season run on the sitcom Platypus man, with Richard Jeni. Whatever that “it” thing is, he had it. He also had a horrible disease - addiction, which ultimately took everything from him. It terrorized him and I’m sure reeked unspeakable havoc on his family. It’s a disease like any there is, but unlike cancer let’s say, the victim can’t help but have a hand in his own destruction and the guilt that goes with that, especially for a sweet person like David, was excruciating I’m sure. I pray to God that he is finally at peace. But, by no means did he have a wasted life. I know there are many who will sit in judgment of him, but very few would be able to say they touched so many people in the purest way, without envy, without competition and always with a genuine smile and appreciation of the person before him. It was a treat to be in his presence. I will forever remember his convulsive laugh that always egged me on. A memory, I will always keep in my mind - After our performances in San Francisco we’d go to Lefty O’Doul’s where the piano player there could play any song. David would inevitably be cheered on by the cast to sing his favorite, Harry Chapin’s, “Cats in the Cradle.” I’m in tears thinking about it. Until we meet again my dear friend.
“And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
When you coming home, dad?
I don't know when
But we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then”
With Love,
Mark

I remember ski trips with Dave with our friends from Astoria as well as him attending my wedding. Of course many many other occasions .I'm sure everyone has an interesting story about Dave . The one thing I will always remember was no matter how long it had been since I had seen him no matter his success or his troubles he still had that smile and that personality that could dominate a room ,and a kindness that did not change .He was a good person . My heart goes out to the Dundara family ,I know David is in a much better place .

It is with great sadness and shock that I learnt of David's passing when I came back to work on June 19. Exactly a week earlier, we spoke about how excited I was that the warm weather is finally here, being from a tropical country. Of course, David preferred the cooler period, especially the winter. So he said to me: "James, I am going to sleep, wake me up in October." Little did I know that that was his way of saying the final good bye.
Although you left too soon, I believe you are at peace now. Greenwich Court has lost a great and amiable resident. I would forever treasure you bright smile and warm personality.
Le mie condoglianze alla famiglia di David, sopratutto, ai genitori, Angela e Cesare e tutti i tuoi amici. May God comfort and console you.
Requiescat in pace, David!!!

Please know that I am thinking of you all, and David, and hope that you that might find strength and support in your love for one another- and David- as time unfolds. I am so very sorry. I adored him and feel so very sad that he struggled so deeply. I will remember him full of life, and smiles, and laughter. He filled a room with his presence. One could feel he was there before even seeing him. I send love to you all. I hold you in my prayers today, and from this day forward.

Dear Dundara Family,
I am so very sorry for the loss of David and whlle I haven't seen David in over 17 years, please know I am greatly saddened by his death and regret never knowing he had a personal struggle. I was in the SFP Class of 1984 and Fordham's Class of 1988. Like many of the other high school girls, I was immediately smitten by David's handsomeness and great smile. I first met him at my sister, Maria's graduation which she shared with your son Danny. During high school, David and I traveled on the city bus together from school to Jamaica where he switched to the N22 and I to the Q43. I always enjoyed my conversations with him. I still remember his band and when he sang Modern English's song, I'll Stop the World and Melt With You. Every girl (including me) probably had wished David was singing that song to each one of them.
When we graduated from high school and went on to Fordham University, my childish crush grew into an appreciation for him as a friend. David and I had several mutual friends and enjoyed many fun times together. Often on Fridays, he would drive me home in his silver Cordoba so I could visit my parents. My parents greatly appreciated his bringing me home on the weekends. I also remember enjoying some delicious meatballs that he would bring back to school to share with his friends. Such a treat!
I also want you to know that for some reason, this past Saturday at 4am, I awakened from my sleep, startled as I realized David appeared in my dream. I was back in my childhood house in Bellerose and he was there as he had just brought me home from school. The odd part is my daughter's piano teacher was there too. She and David immediately hit it off as they discussed a love for music. I was so surprised by this dream and David's appearance in it. When I went to mass on Sunday, I thought about David and how I first met him at Danny's and my sister's graduation. I was trying to figure out why he had appeared in my dream and wondered how he was doing. Then on Tuesday, an SFP classmate called me to tell me the tragic news. The classes of 1984 and 1988 have lost a dear friend.
I live in Maryland now and am sad that I can't run up there to pay my respects to him and his family tonight. Please know he and you will be in my prayers. Danny, your letter to David is so very touching and completely captures the essence of true sibling love and admiration. Thank you for sharing it with us.
All my love and prayers,
Angela (LaRosa) Dean

David always had a smile and joke ready. He definitely was larger than life. And missed by all who knew him. Addiction can be a lonely problem that so many people suffer from. I'm sorry I couldn't do anything to ease his burden and to let him know he wasn't alone and that we all loved him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. There's nothing I could say to ease their pain. Just hold on to the happy memories and over time the pain lessens. And I am sure he is in peace now.

We send you our deepest condolences on this devastating loss and know that our Thoughts & Prayers are with you during this most difficult time. We are absolutely heartbroken to have heard this terrible news and cannot believe it :-( David, I know unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to see each other often, only sometimes at the Istria Club parties, but you were most definitely one of my favorite cousins. Ask anyone, I always bragged about you. You are such a Beautiful soul inside and out, have a gorgeous smile that lit up the darkest room, incredible talent that Hollywood was oh so lucky to have had and the personality and heart that made the world a better place. You will be heavily missed by all those who love you, leaving an empty piece in our hearts that only you could fill :-( May God keep you safe & protect you in his warm embrace as he has now gained a most spectacular angel.
On a side note, say Hello to my dad up there and make sure that he makes you his most delicious foods and that you share some nice wine together and reminisce about the olden days :-)

Dave,
How does one say goodbye to a life-long friend?
Scenes of the many good times we shared have been playing in my head since I heard the news. Too many memories to count. It has been an honor to know you.
I tried to recall when we first met. I couldn’t. When I thought about it a bit I decided that it had to have been on the first or second day of 1st grade in 1972. I recall that you were very smart, charming and a talented athlete. We became close quite quickly and throughout grammar school were the best of friends until we fought about something stupid not speaking for months. But then suddenly, as if nothing happened, we were once again friends.
In high school, we played music together. Actually, we played a lot of music together. While I do not care to listen to the tapes, I have great memories of those times.
Then you got your big break acting off Broadway. I could not have been prouder. After that it was on to Hollywood. I was proud to cheer you on even when your “Journey to the Center of the Earth” exposed me to a previously inconceivable low in filmmaking. I was even proud when you came back because I knew you gave it your best shot.
Over the past decade or two the contact may have been less frequent (living on opposite sides of the Atlantic does not help) but the bond was always there. On Sunday morning, I casually got in my car and drove to the bakery. I immediately started thinking of you, our childhood and the times we had together. So many things I had not thought of in years. It was clearly time to send you a note to see how you were. Little did I know that you had just left us. I would like to believe it was more than a coincidence. Thank you for stopping by on your way up.
Dave, you were taken away from us much too early. But the memories will never be taken away. Good-bye old friend.

Seeing you as Tony in 'Tony and Tina's wedding' in NYC, riding in the limo and laughing as family as in mays ways we were.
