My heartfelt condolences to Peter, Audrey (USMMA '04), all the members of her family and her close friends. Stephanie was a great supporter and true friend of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and the Regiment of Midshipmen. While her daughter was a student, she and Peter opened their home to countless men and women, giving the term "in loco parentis" true meaning. Alongside her husband, she worked tirelessly to support the midshipmen of the Academy through the national USMMA Parents Association. On a personal level, Stephanie's advice to parents of candidates and midshipmen helped so many families understand what the "Kings Point Experience" was all about. As a long-time leader of the New York Metro-Area Parents Club, she organized countless events for the midshipmen, which were welcome escapes from the daily routine of Academy life. Most importantly, Stephanie's calm demeanor, style and graciousness were her constant hallmarks. I was honored to know her. She will be remembered, and she will be missed. May she have fair weather on her journey.
