Obituary of John Lenane

John M. Lenane passed away suddenly on August 21st, 2016. John was born at St. Elizabeth’s in Manhattan NY on May 31, 1955, and attended Good Shepard Elementary School, St. Michael’s High School, St. Lawrence University and received his Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from Manhattan College. Most recently John resided in Great Neck New York and Oceanport New Jersey, and previously resided for many years in Minisink in Orange County New York. John was an active citizen in Minisink through his many years on the School Board and as a Scout Leader. John derived enormous pleasure in planning and organizing Scout activities, from field trips to the District Olympics.
John had a lifetime love of all things sports, and played hockey for both St. Lawrence and Manhattan, continuing his passion for hockey goaltending in adult leagues for many years. John is a passionate fan of the New York Giants, having attended two of the Giants winning Super bowl games, and a life-long season ticket holder. His love of sports included his beloved NY Yankees as well.
John is predeceased by his parents Lillian and Thomas, and his sister Michelle. John is a loving husband and devoted father, brother and uncle and is survived by his wife Kathleen, his son Andrew, daughter-in-law Bridget, his sister Gabrielle and brother-in-law Michael; his niece Kristen and his former spouse and Andrew’s mother, Pamela Morrison.
John may have had a passion for sports, however he also was an extremely inquisitive man, who enjoyed learning from others through the repartee he had with so many of his long-time friends and acquaintances over a lifetime of meeting new people and exploring new places. John will be tremendously missed.
A memorial wake will be held Sunday August 28th from 2 to 6 pm at Fairchild Sons, Inc., 1570 Northern Blvd. Manhasset NY.
