Nanny, you were one of the most important people in our lives. You were funny, kind, and always cared for us. I'm happy that my mom and I got to see you a week before you passed. When we went to your house to see you and looked through the window, we saw your amazing smile, it was priceless. I hope you are living happily and peacefully in heaven with Colin and your glowing smile! You have personally effected my life greatly and Christmas will not be the same without you at the head of the table at Aunt Debbie's house. I'm going to miss you very much!

Wednesday was a sad day for us all. Chris and I came to see you when we heard your aide was hospitalized, and found you sleepy and a little quiet. We never thought that an hour after we left we would get a call from Greg that you passed.
Over the past few years I was your medical appointment driver for allergy doctor visits etc. I know you were always concerned that I would be mad waiting outside for you and when you got back into my car I assured you that you shouldn't worry about that. My reward, and yours was lunch at the diner. We both especially enjoyed the soup and had many refills on the coffee. The drill was always the same: Chris would read you pages of food to order and you would just say "whatever," then smile at me. It was like our inside joke where you would make her read all the pages and then ask her "what are you going to have?" You then would smile again at me and say I'll have what you are having. She didn't laugh but you and I got it.
Having seen this illness for the past 35 years at my nursing home, some may think that I am less sensitive to it. I'm not and was saddened that you had to endure it somewhat harder than my mom did. LIke the rest of the family, I will truly miss you.
You will always live on in my memory.

Dearest Mommy,
Words can't express my grief with your passing. I know you have been suffering slowly with your disease. You never complained at your worst. You were a woman of few words but gentle and easy going. Your sacrificed so much for your children as we were growing up. You have always shown such strength. I will miss our trips to the doctors with lunch following. You really liked it as well.It reminded me of our trips, just you and me, to a doctor office in downtown Brooklyn as child. Loved being alone with you. I also went with you, with the shopping cart, to Grand Street to food shop. You would tell me as a college student to spend my money on outfits since you are only young once. Tom and I came to visit you most weeks since you were in rehab and then home. I wanted to see you as much as I could.I am so fortunate to have been with you the last day of your life not knowing you would pass a few hours later. I am sure that you had many family members to greet you in heaven. Sure you are there! Now you can rest in peace. You remain in my heart forever.

To my beautiful Gram (Raffy),
My heart is broken. There are not enough words to tell you how much I miss you. You have been with me for 50 years and I can't imagine life without you. I wanted to see you and talk to you just one more time. Unfortunately, I was on vacation when God and BaBa called you. Who is going to sit at the head of the table by my sliders for Christmas and parties? Nicky, Roddy and Joanna miss their "CANDY LADY and NANNY." You have been there for all of my life's events and I am so grateful for that. I know that this day comes for everyone but I guess I am a little selfish. I wasn't ready to let you go. The past few months weren't easy for you between the operation for the broken femur and of course the dreaded rehab stay. I don't know which one you hated more, being in rehab or being in a housedress and getting not so great hairdo's at Ozanam. We both know which one it was! LOL! Please watch over our family and help us all to stay together in your absence. Please give us the strength to mend our broken hearts. I love you always and forever! Give a kiss to Ba, Colin, Uncle Joey and the rest of the family. Send me some signs so I know you are near me! Until we are together again!
