Obituary of Kenneth A. Tully

Tully, Kenneth A.- of Port Washington passed away the morning of Wednesday November 2, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. 84 years strong he served our country in the Army during the Korean War. When he returned he soon became the driving force in continuing his family’s legacy and developed into a much respected leader of the New York City construction industry in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. There is hardly a major street, bridge or airport in the Tri-State area that didn’t see the familiar family emblems of Tully and DiNapoli, Willets Point Contracting and today Tully Construction sometime during their construction. He also served as President of the General Contractors Association (as did his father Edward and his son Peter) from 1978 to 1980. He had a vision from the start and passed away knowing that vision had become a reality. He was also an avid golfer and we are sure he’s already teed it up on the greatest course he’ll ever play. To all who knew him on the golf course we are sure he would like to have reminded you that “you drive for show but you putt for dough” and of course if you didn’t agree with those sentiments he would have told you “one for you and one for your horse”. He was also a long serving board member and fundraiser for Long Island Hospice. The Hospice cause was his loving wife and best friend Mary Ann’s passion. When she passed away he continued the strong family support for this important community program that serves and comforts many families dealing with terminal illnesses across Long Island. He is the father to Thomas, Joanne, James, Peter, Kenneth, Alice and Kelly, Grandfather to Daniel, Sean, Taylor, Jamie, Megan, Alison, Andrew, Mark, Nikolaus, Christopher, Kara, Brian, William, Kaelin, Colin, Stephen, Jill, Tully, Riley, Logan, and Kegan, Great grandfather to Tyler, Jayden, Mia, Kaylee, Nico and Aedan. Ken was someone who touched the lives of many, he was a special person, one of a kind and will be missed very much by all, but especially his loving family, we will never forget you Dad say hello to Mom for us. In repose at the Fairchild Funeral Chapel Saturday and Sunday 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass Monday 9:30AM at St. Peter of Alcantara Church, Pt. Washington. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery. This would be greatly appreciated by the family, so Hospice can continue their very important work.
