Obituary of Maria Dolores Reyes

Maria Dolores was born in Puerto Rico on April 3, 1944. She was later married to John Andrade and had four children, John, Alex, Maria and Elizabeth. Maria was a stay at home mother for many years but later entered the workforce. Sometime later, she worked at a diner in Brooklyn where she met and married Luis Reyes. Maria was an attentive and loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed dancing, laughing and being around people. She was actively involved in the lives of her family until disease had overtaken her. She spent the last decade of her life battling dementia, a disease which ravaged the family. Maria Dolores Reyes, 72, passed away on December 9, 2016. Maria is survived by her four children (John, Alex, Maria, Elizabeth), her eight grandchildren (Cristina, Ainsley, Ashley, Matthew, Andrew, Christian, Martin and Lidia) her three great grandchildren (Dominic, Julian and Elizabeth) her sisters Lucy and Nivea and brother John, a host of nieces and nephews and the rest of her family and friends. Maria is preceded in death by her parents, husband Luis, her sister Aida and brothers Oswaldo and Ishmael. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to; The DOLORES FOUNDATION FOR ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH, INC., Which is a charitable non-profit organization enhancing public awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementia's. We will educate with important information including signs, symptoms and current medical research. Additionally, the Foundation will raise funds and acquire grants through extensive efforts to medical research facilities and organizations concentrating on Alzheimer’s and dementia studies.
