Obituary of Virgilio J. Cannatella

Virgilio J. Cannatella, 81, of Manhasset, NY and Delray Beach, FL passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Virgil was born on March 18, 1935 in New York, NY. He attended Fordham University, Class of 1956. He married the love of his life, “B”, on July 7, 1957 at St. Francis de Sales Church in New York. Virgil and “B” owned and operated La Guli Italian Pastry Shop in Astoria, NY for almost 40 years before retiring and becoming snowbirds to Delray Beach, FL. His inviting smile and love of food and friends will be remembered by all who knew him. Virgil is survived by his wife, “B” of 59 years, son Anthony (Susan), daughter Lucy (Bill) and grandchildren, Anne-Marie, Katharine, Anthony, Mary Margaret, Sophia and William. Visitation at the Fairchild Sons Funeral Home, 1570 Northern Blvd., Manhasset, NY on Thursday and Friday, 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Church of St. Mary on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flower donations may be made to: Cystic Fibrosis Care C/O Dr Engelhardt 55 East End Ave., 14D New York, NY 10028
