Mae Florence Pierson, 92, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017, in Manhasset, NY. She was born on April 14, 1924, in Queens, NY to Edward and Lilian Lange. Graduating from high school at age 16, she attended Temple University. As a freshman, she met her future husband of 70 years, Harry Edwin Pierson, whom she married in 1943. Returning to Queens while he served in the U.S. Army overseas, she worked for Sperry Corporation as a bombsight inspector while completing her studies at New York University. She graduated with a degree in education and worked as an elementary school teacher before stopping to concentrate on her family. A devoted wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother, she will be remembered for her cooking, hospitality, and love of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry and is survived by her adoring family, including daughters Ellen Marlin and Elizabeth Casalino; son-in-law James Casalino; grandson Timothy Marlin and his wife Sara; and nephew James Pelzer, his wife Ellen, and their children Mary Cabrera and Andrew Pelzer. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 17, at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Manhasset, NY. Her grace, elegance, intelligence, and loving heart were an example to all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
