Joanne Popovich, 84, passed away in Roslyn, NY on February 16, 2017, surrounded by her children. Joanne was born in Paris, TX on October 15, 1932, the only child of Redus and Lucille Ford. Joanne began working as a legal assistant in Dallas at age 16 and then later worked as an administrative assistant at Chance Vought Aircraft in the 1950s. After raising her children in Fort Worth, TX and later in Farmingdale, NY, Joanne lived in Dallas for twenty years before again returning to New York in 2004, most recently residing in Medford.
Joanne was a devoted daughter, mother and friend. She will best be remembered for her sly observations and quick wit, the deep love she had for her children and friends, an unparalleled appreciation of music and dancing, and the regular hair and manicure appointments important to a girl from the South.
She is survived by her children David Wells, Kathleen Popovich (Bob Reynolds), and Stephen Popovich (Amy Brown). She is also survived by her former spouse Louis Popovich and her two great grandchildren Alexis Wells and Kylie Wells (Tracy Wells). Joanne was predeceased by her grandson Daniel Wells. She is also survived by step-grand and great grandchildren in Idaho and Montana, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and lifelong friends in Texas, New York and Mexico.
Joanne’s loyalty, consideration and concern for her many family and friends will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
