1930-2017... my dear veteran friend Andrew "Andy" Musumeci has passed away this week. About a year ago, I had the honor to meet Andy and spend time with him. He was never afraid to share with me his stories of fighting as a Marine in the Korean War and traveling through Japan, China and South Korea. He enjoyed every day I came to see him and I enjoyed bonding with him it gave me the experience of having a grandfather again. But I sadly knew his time was running out and he was never going to recover. But even so, his suffering would end and he would finally be at peace. And I knew from the bottom of my heart, that's what he wanted. It's painful and heartbreaking for me to say goodbye to him, but I know he's no longer in pain and in a much better place with God at his side. Goodbye and Rest In Peace, Andy... you served America proudly.
