Obituary of Kathleen C. Florio

Kathleen (Kay) Florio, was born in 1932 to Augusta and Henry B. Costantin. She and her sister, Geralyn (Kossmann), grew up in Clifton, New Jersey. She graduated from Prospect Hill Country Day School and went on to attend Wellesley College, where she majored in Economics and Mathematics. 

She met her husband of 54 years, Lawrence Florio, while he was attending Harvard Law School and she was a student at Wellesley. They were married on April 28th, 1956, and made their first home in Munich, Germany, where he was stationed in the US Army. She often spoke of that special time early in their married life as a gift; her days were spent meeting new friends, studying German, hosting dinner parties and traveling throughout Europe.

After returning to the states, they lived in Brooklyn, NY and started a family. They eventually settled in Plandome, NY where they lived for over 35 years. While raising their four children, Kay volunteered for the PTA and served as President of the School Community Association (SCA) She eventually resumed her career in marketing as Director of Media Research for WCBS Radio in New York City and enjoyed traveling the country while supporting CBS affiliate stations.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and her husband. After her husband’s passing in 2010 she left the home she loved in Plandome and moved to Arlington, VA.
