Obituary of Peter Francis Rooney

Peter Francis Rooney passed away peacefully at his Palm City, Florida home due to complications from COPD. Born in Brooklyn in 1927, Pete was an only child of Irish immigrants, the late Mary Deehan Rooney from County Sligo and Peter Rooney from County Leitrim.  He was also predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Gertrude.  Pete and Trudy left behind a true “Irish Clan.” Loving father of Kevin, Joseph, Maureen, Brendan, Timothy, Theresa, Peter Jr. and Eileen McCarthy and their spouses Kathleen, Guadalupe, Julie, Christine, and Patrick.  Adoring grandfather of 12 and one great-granddaughter.
After serving honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he then graduated from Pace University and St. John’s Law School.  Pete was co-founder of the Law Firm of Mullooly, Jeffrey, Rooney, and Flynn and retired from his position as Managing Partner in 2003. . Pete will be remembered for devotion to the Catholic Church, his generosity to multiple causes and people, and his love of fine dining. His twinkling blue eyes shined for 90 years and brought joy to those who knew and loved him.
