Obituary of Nancy Lawrence
Nancy B. Lawrence, formerly of Munsey Park Manhasset, died on her birthday, August 20th, in her home in Port Washington surrounded by family and devoted caregivers. Nancy was a dedicated volunteer for 20 years with the Guild of St. Francis and added her flare for fashion by purchasing jewelry for the gift shop at St. Francis Hospital. Nancy was also a long-time contributor to North Shore Magazine on Long Island as a restaurant and travel columnist writing under the pen name Regis Black. A long-time parishioner of St. Mary’s R.C. Church she served as a Lector and a member of the bereavement ministry. And, she embroidered the needle point for the kneelers that remain in the sanctuary to this day.
Pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, George S. Lawrence, she is survived by her children, Didi and Ed Pakel, Michele and David Lawrence, Molly and Tim Coughlin, Josie Lawrence and Paul Lee, and Trish and George S. Lawrence Jr; 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Nancy was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, the eldest of Mary and John Black’s four daughters. The family moved to Garden City, Long Island when she was a young girl.
Nancy was a woman of beauty, style and grace. Always one to make a grand entrance, it seemed fitting that her passage was on her birthday. She is a shining star!
