We met when we were very young, about 18 years old. He was a self-taught Spanish speaker and a very bright student within the faculty of medicine at the USD. He eventually moved to the U.S. and chose one of the most high-risk specialties. There he did impressive and very chancy postgraduate work and as a result became a great CV surgeon. Time flew and 25 years later we got together to celebrate his success (1987). Our last meeting was in 2012 where we all had a wonderful time at an excellent resort. This news of his passing has touched us all very deeply. May God welcome him by his side...May The Lord give you eternal peace, Amen! Dr. Antonio Selman Geara.-

I am very sorry to hear of Dr. Lajam's passing. When he was in our Thoracic Department offices I always enjoyed speaking with him and hearing his great stories. One day I was taking a yellow taxi to Mount Sinai from home and the driver and I were talking about the hospital. He said he had been operated on by a great doctor at this hospital. I asked who it was and he honestly said Dr. Lajam. He continued to praise Dr. Lajam and all that he did for him. I know that there are many, many people, patients, colleagues, acquaintances, who will miss him very, very much. My deepest condolences to Dr. Lajam's family.
