Joan Crowley passed away peacefully on October 25th at age 86.  She leaves behind her devoted and beloved husband of nearly 65 years, Gene, and her four sons and daughters-in-law, Lewis and Eileen, Leo and Claudia, Peter and Diane, and Chris and Maria.  Lew and Eileen have daughters Melissa (Dave) and Jennifer (Christian), and Jennifer and Christian have two children, Matthew and Charlotte.  Claudia and Leo’s children are Dan (Ellie) and Matthew; Peter and Diane have three children, Timothy, Peter Jr. and Amanda, and Chris and Maria have Alexis and Christopher.   Joan also leaves behind her sister, Patricia Draper (Tom) and brother Leo (Judy) Gafney, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan was the middle child of Julie and Leo Gafney.  She was raised in Forest Hills, Queens and graduated from the College of New Rochelle. Within a few years after she and Gene were married in 1952 and had started a family they moved to Manhasset where they have resided for over 50 years.   Joan was an avid bridge player and an active member of the Munsey Park Women’s Club, for which she served as president.  In her later years she enjoyed her family’s beach house in Montauk, especially during family gatherings on summer holiday weekends.
