Obituary of Mary Jo Prestiano

Prestiano,Mary Jo (Nee Hagmann) of Jamaica Estates/ Manhasset peacefully passed away on January 8, 2018.  Beloved wife of Dr Robert A. Prestiano. Dear sister of Elizabeth Feiner and Edward Hagmann. Cousin of Eileen Joan Nowland. Loving mother of Jayne Abramson (Richard), Dr Robert A. Prestiano Jr (Carol), James A. Prestiano (Gina), Lori Friedland (Jim), Julie Strasser (Greg)and Beth Dolis (Chris). Proud grandmother of Kyle, Ryan, Dylan, Brad, Matthew, Nicole, Nicholas, Christopher, James, Olivia, Samantha, Amanda, Jayden, Amelia, John, Jane, and Joseph.

Mary Jo was an active nurse for over 50 years. Practicing as a clinical and OR nurse, flight nurse for Seaboard and Western airlines and public health nurse for the visiting Nurse Service of NY. Then office manager to her husband’s practice to retirement. Active in CYO as a swimming coach, leadership of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, vocal advocate for the PTA and chairperson for countless fund raisers. Mary Jo was an avid tennis, golf, and bridge player who also knew how to throw a fabulous party. Long time member of North Hills Country Club where her legacy will be indelibly engraved forever.

She was a cherished aunt and a devoted friend. She will be missed.
