Michelle Schaefer, President - Retired Lieutenants Association posted a condolence
Thursday, June 21, 2018
My sincerest prayers and condolences to the Vey Voda family. Tom was an extraordinary man. He served in the Marine Corps, the NYPD, and started the Retired Lieutenants Association with a handful of other retired Lieutenants in the late 70's. He went on to become the President of the Association. A title which he held for over 30 years. He was a large presence and integral part of the RLA which would not exist today were it not for his efforts. As the current president, I was left big shoes to fill and I hope to make him proud. I will think of him often and not let him be forgotten. Your watch is over Lt. We will take it from here.

Please accept my sincerest condolences. Although I've only met Thomas a handful of times, he brought me much peace when my grandfather Richard Vanek passed away. I remember his hug; the strength, the warmth and the love that came through. And the stories! I wish you peace and love during this difficult time. I believe he was truly a special man.

Without having read Tom Vey vodas’ obituary, I thought he was an incredible man. He raised two strong women and successful grandchildren. He had a wonderful, full professional life that almost no one today could duplicate. He taught his family “ that nothing is out of reach, go big or go home”.condolences to the family and remember to celebrate his life rather than mourn, with love Pam and Glenn shorr

Tom,
I’ve not known you personally but you have been an extraordinary guiding compass to many of us on or “retired” from the job! Your tireless efforts to keep us all informed were truly a blessing. I’m not surprised when I read the beautiful words of your daughters as you have a knack for selflessly putting others first. You are truly a HERO!!! Semper-Fi and REST IN PEACE my brother!

Thomas
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Dad was an amazing Father and Grandfather and he will be missed more then he will ever know. He is now in the loving arms of our Mom and God. He is standing the watch in Heaven with his brother Marines. He was on our son, Cody's shoulder all through Annapolis, mentored and groomed one scratch golfer, our son Morgan, debated political issues with Drew, and was always talking about his dearly loved Marines with Tom. The four boys had an awesome relationship with their Grandfather for many many years. He waited for Cody to be promoted to Lieutenant, Morgan to return home to the USA safe and begin his career at Grumman, Drew to get engaged and Tom to find a new and exciting career path.
We love you, Dad, we were gifted to have you for so long, we will miss you terribly but we will honor you going forward by trying to be the best parents and future grandparents and citizens we can. It is all about family, family honor and making memories and stories. We have a treasure trove of stories that will keep us laughing for ever. Semper Fi, Dad, BZ.
