Just found at he passed away. Super sad to hear- mostly friends of friends- but we hung out quite often and Johnny was a great guy- always quick with a joke- never had a bad word to say about anyone.

I’m just finding out about John’s passing now, 12-17-18. I haven’t seen him since leaving the COMEX in 1992, but I still remember the laughs I had with him. John was a great human being, a person that you never walked away from without a smile on your face.
I’m so sorry to hear this news, he was taken from family and friends far too soon. I will remember him, his funny stories about the Sons of Italy parties and all the laughs he brought to the floor.
RIP Johnny you will be missed.

I traded with junior for many years in the options pit on Comex. I am so sorry to hear of his passing, may G-D rest his soul. Junior was a good guy and in the Commodities business a good guy meant he was okay. I send my condolences to his family.

There are not enough complimentary words to describe John. He was authentic, kind, helpful and joyful. I can only imagine the loss those closest to him feel as I, who rarely even spoke to him the past ten years, feel the world has lost a great soul.

Johnny was only in my life a short handful of years. I had heard of him for years from mutual friends over and over. “Wait till you meet Ferraro” that’s all I kept hearing. I’d ask myself how big a deal can this Ferraro dude be? How funny can he be?
I fell in love w him from day one. We were two peas in a pod. He was authentic. He was sincere. He was loving in his own way. He was angry at a lot of things that I understood w/out having to say I understood-he knew I understood. If I didn’t understand he would just say it louder until I did understand.
It was a year or two into knowing him and I was leaving his apartment and I gave him a hug and looked him in the eye and told him I loved him. Our hugs were always awkward because I’m 6’9” and he was 5’1” in heels. He reacted like I punched him in the nose. He looked at me like he wanted to make me disappear or brake my nose. After a couple of awkward seconds I told him he didn’t have to say it back and we both laughed and I left. The next time I tried to give him a goodbye hug he said I know, I know, you love me. He just said Jesus Christ I’ll see you later! I told him I loved him and I left laughing.
The third time we had that awkward goodbye, he said I know, I know, I love you too. Just like a little puppy he gave me what seemed like a 10 minute hug and I left feeling Johnny’s Love. It was authentic and sincere. He was a very loving man as best he could be. He would always have a nosh plate and a drink and a story and the jokes. I had to ask him one time to stop being funny. I told him I can’t take anymore funny. We laughed.
He was w/ me the night I met my future wife. If it wasn’t for Johnny wanting to meet at PJ Clarke’s we wouldn’t have met, so in some weird fateful way he will always be a part of us. That night Johnny boy was as funny and engaging as he ever was. Meaghan and I will always cherish our time w/ Johnny boy.
I will miss the big heart, the jokes, the smile, the loud mouthing, the quick wit, the sarcasm, the trump rants, the nosh plates, the readiness for fun, but mostly We will miss the loving friendship Meaghan and I had w/ Johnny Ferraro.
RIP
