Obituary of Richard Phillip Pleines
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Phillip Pleines was born on January 31, 1943 in Queens, New York and died peacefully at his home in Port Washington with his family at his side on September 5, 2018. He went to Grover Cleveland High School and served in the U.S Army with tours of duty in Turkey and Vietnam. He attended Queensborough College in the field of engineering which he applied in his lengthy employment at New York Telephones (Nynex) and later worked for Cablevision. Unfortunately, Parkinson’s disease and the effects of agent orange impaired his functioning abilities in the later years of his life.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Ruth who cared for him diligently and with much warmth, his daughter Julie (Troy), and three grandchildren Karly, Ethan, and Riley of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, and by his sister Louise of Manasses, Virginia.
Richard was a gentleman in every way and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He remains a treasure that we will long remember.
