MaryAnne Wesey was my mother's best friend since the 1940's and I can't remember a time when she wasn't around attending family gatherings or telling funny stories that would have the rest of us in stitches. She was an active member in the Knights of Lithuania and contributed so much to the organization, obviously proud of her Lithuanian heritage and had the desire to see it thrive. Some of my fondest memories was her attending my many horseshows in Long Island, coming to cheer me on while holding my anxious mother's hand saying, "She's doing great, Josie, don't worry!" I swear she had a special bond with horses and animals alike due to her kind heart. I will miss her so very much.

Maryann “Mary” Wesey died on Tuesday September 11, 2018 in Westbury, NY at the age of 98 and is survived by her beloved brother, Anthony J. Kurtin of Westbrook, CT, her beloved sister Elizabeth (Kurtin) Taff of Camarillo, CA., her beloved nephews Peter A. Kurtin of Oakdale, CT, Christopher A. Kurtin and wife Christina of East Haddam, CT, Robert M. Kurtin, wife Kristen and two great-nieces, Lauren and Audrey of Middlefield, CT, and beloved niece Kimberly (Kurtin) Walsh and husband Sean, of Middletown, CT. She is preceded in death by her beloved brothers Alexander Wesey, of Great Neck, NY and Peter Kurtin of Glen Cove, NY, her beloved brother-in law Clarence "Joe" Taff, and beloved sisters-in-law Starsy Wesey, Marie Kurtin and Lorraine Kurtin.
Mary worked at Sperry Corporation, together with her sister Liz, until her retirement. Sperry was a major military contractor of office equipment and electronics in the mid-20th century. Mary lived most of her life in Westbury, NY and had a fondness for gardening which she adopted through working with her brother Al at the Great Neck Garden Center. She loved sports cars like Mustangs and Thunderbirds and also had favorite rock ‘n roll records such as the Beatles that she passed on to her nephews. Mary loved the beach and spent countless days under the sun at Jones Beach.
Mary's family cherished every holiday gathering as they would begin with tears of happiness and ended the same way as most of her family lived in Connecticut. Mary will always be remembered by her family for her beautiful and loving smile, her generous manner and contagious laugh! May Mary rest in eternal peace.
With love,
The Kurtin family
