Obituary of Robert H. Mitchell

Robert H. Mitchell passed away peacefully on Dec 19 at the age of 93. Fondly Known as "Bob," he was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Lavina, known as "Lovey," for 30 years. Bob was a loving father to Janice and husband Charlie, Bonnie and husband Kenny, and Kim and husband Jim. He was a cherished grandfather to Connor, Evan, Nicole, and Kenny. Bob also leaves behind his sister Margaret who he always fondly referred to as "Lil 'Bit.” He was predeceased by his brother Benjamin, and sisters Layla and Anne (sadly, Anne passed away just last week.)

Bob was born in Atlanta, Georgia and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot. He worked at Merrill Lynch for over 25 years as a financial adviser. He was a proud member of the Rotary Club and as an honored Rotarian he embraced its service mission for over 50 years.  As a long-time member of the Community Reformed Church (where he met Lovey), he served as an elder and a deacon, was a member of the consistory council, and enjoyed singing in the choir.

All who knew Bob knew he was an avid golfer and he LOVED GOLF, enjoying the sport until just a few years ago. As his grandson Connor, his golf buddy would say, "Pop Could Still Bring It."
