Dear Steve, Kathy and Bob, To those of us at Battleship NORTH CAROLINA, Lou was one of the central figures of the annual crew reunion for many, many years as an officer in the USS NORTH CAROLINA Battleship Association - treasurer, vice president and president. Elegant, calm, organized. Well dressed and carrying a briefcase. You always felt that things would be run satisfactorily with Lou in charge. I can still hear him at the annual crew memorial service talking about the ship's history and reading out the names of the deceased. Now it will be his turn to be well remembered by the dwindling numbers of shipmates able to come to Wilmington. We will miss him and remember his contributions to the ship as a young man and as a mature one. My best to you all as you grapple with this loss. May his love for you be of great comfort. About 4.5 years ago I had the privilege to meet a kind man, Louis and the pleasure to take care of him couple days a week. And this opportunity gained me a wonderful friendship with a remarkable man. We talked over the phone once a week or I visited him for a drink sometimes. He loved to hear and learn more about Jewish history and Persian culture. And I loved to hear about the battle ships, aircrafts and world war 2. I sure miss my dear friend Lou and his stories. I am grateful that I saw you last week, held your hand, Kissed you and said farewell. God bless your pure soul. Rest In Peace my wonder friend.

To my partner in crime; Lou we will miss you my friend, more then anyone could possibly know. you have always been a good neighbor and friend. I still remember when you came over and asked me to stand with you and shut down the dredging project of the creek because they refused to replenish the sand at the base of our homes were it was lost. We shut them down, until the Town put back the lost sand in front of our houses, not out at the low tide line.. We asked them to please return the sand where it was lost from, but it fell on deft ears. They had to cross our properties for the dredging work to be done, so we waited until they had all their equipment on the other side of the Creek, then we put your plan into action and issued a (no trespassing order) on them. Your plan worked perfectly, they finally gave in and changed the work orders to replenish the sand where it was ment to be distributed in front of the homeowners homes. Lou you were the best, we both Love you and will miss you terribly but I am sure your back on your ship in Heaven.. Peggy and Jim LoScalzo

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Lou was a great friend of my husband Henry and I. Always enjoyed our time with him. He came to Henry’s burial which I was very appreciative for that.
