Obituary of Neil Gregory Barber

Neil “the warrior“ Barber, age 45 passed away peacefully on August 27th from complications of pneumonia. Neil suffered from mental illness for 27 years. Prior to his illness, he was a popular and outstanding athlete at Manhasset High School and Canterbury Prep. More importantly, Neil was a wonderful person who fought his devastating illness with incredible courage and never complained. The illness wrecked havoc with his brain, but never with his kind heart.
   He was always helping others at the various hospitals he was in and we were blessed to have him in our lives. We thank God for him and are grateful that he is finally at peace.
  Neil is survived by his mother, Lynne Barber McGrail, (Bob), his father, Greg (Hilda), brother, Colin (Lara ) his niece, Princess Brooke Elizabeth and the best and most devoted godmother in the world, Leslyn Rigoni, her husband, Don and their daughters, Madeline and Lenora.
