Grace Marra, a long-time resident of Manhasset and Port Washington, passed away on January 29, 2020 in amongst her family. Grace was born in Brooklyn, NY to Rose and Nicholas Arnone, on March 9, 1929. Growing up in Brooklyn, she attended Fontbonne Hall Academy, and subsequently graduated from St. Joseph’s College. Grace became a dedicated educator, teaching Kindergarten for over 25 years in the Hicksville, NY school district. In June 1961, Grace married Alfred A Marra, also originally of Brooklyn, NY. Grace and Al lived their married years together happily in Manhasset, where Grace became a very involved Parishioner of Saint Mary’s Church. Grace served as a teacher, and subsequently lead the CCD Program. She also served on and participated in various committees and groups. After her retirement from teaching, Grace greatly enjoyed her volunteer work at St. Francis hospital. She moved to Port Washington after the passing of Al, where she remained active in her volunteer work and enjoyed her retirement. In recent years, she resided in Cortlandt Manor, NY to be closer to her family. Grace will be long remembered for her love of her family, as well as being a devoted friend and neighbor. She will be sadly missed by many. She is survived by her two sons, Peter and his wife Nichole of Buchanan, NY and Gary and his wife Angela of Weymouth, Massachusetts, as well as her grandsons Daniel, Nick, Nolan and Noah. Visiting hours will be at Fairchild and Sons, Friday January 31, 2020 at 4pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 1300 Northern Blvd, Manhasset, NY 11030 on Saturday February 1, 2020.
