It’s hard to find words to say to someone who always knew what to say, but the world has lost another great man, my Grandfather Joseph Fico Jr. He was a man of pride and honor who did not only his best for his family but for others. As most people know there wasn’t much Joe didn’t do. He joined the Army out of high school, served his country, he came home to become a Detective Sergeant of the Port Washington Police and Chief of the Port Washington Fire Department. When he wasn’t serving his community he was probably out on the bay fishing. He showed me pretty much everything I know about fishing and if you ever wonder why I’m so crazy about fishing, he’s why. I am so beyond grateful that I was able to spend 20 years of my life with you and the impact you left on me I will cherish forever. I just want to say thank you for always being there for me no matter what, teaching me everything you know not only about the water but how to be a man. I can only hope that I can one day fit into your big shoes. I hope that lord has brought you home where you belong and that they’re big fish and more people to shine your light on, just make sure they’re some fish left when I get there. I love you forever best friend.
