Mr. P. always made my wife feel so special. He was the best that way. And always said to me "Tell Mom I said hello. And don't forget because when I see her.... I rarely forgot and my Mom always appreciated him checking in. Such virtues of Grace and humility along with a keen sense of humor and a generous heart are the way I will always remember this treasure of a man.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Pollicino family. I had the privilege of working for Joe at CIT and Manufacturers Hanover. He was a kind, thoughtful and eminently fair guy. He offered his knowledge and perspective to all who sought it, and he stood out among his peers for his good judgment, human decency and straightforward way of doing business. He will be missed.

Joe was a mentor to me. The most impactfull lesson I learned from Joe was the importance of Character. Joe's life was the greatest example of true character - he did not talk about character, he just lived it for all his life. I hope I have learned some part of that lesson.

I’m grateful that I was able to have a number of good phone calls with Joe since his birthday in December, most recently one week before he passed; he sounded fine, losing him is a shock.
Joe was a guy you immediately liked. He was a man’s man, he was a straight talker, and very respected.
I met Joe in about 1974 when he was with Manufacturers’ Hanover Trust bank. Even when he rejected a proposal that was wanted from his bank, you had to like him anyway! This was because he was never arbitrary. He explained his decisions, he told the truth, he was honest, and he was understandable. This quality is far from common, and Joe had this quality through and through. In fact, the word quality applies to him overall.
Joe was such a visionary, he could see things others didn’t, and he was willing to share his ideas. Joe helped my career. Early on, he suggested I use my name in my company’s name, and The Alco Companies were born. Through his efforts I became involved in my first business matter, W.T. Grant, in 1976, with over 1200 stores, and my career went on from there.
Joe was one of a kind, he was so very smart, helpful, a great thinker and trustworthy. He will be missed by everyone, but truly, by me.

Mr P was an incredibly humble, loyal and self made man! When we were in college, I remember admiring him so much as he managed to balance an incredibly successful career with all the important things in life. Mr P spread his love to all with his contagious smile and sense of humor which clearly he passed down to Kerry and other family members! Thank you for all the laughs and happy memories! Mr P was a husband, father and friend all should aspire to be like!

I don’t know where to begin other than to stay the amazing relationship we had the Pollicino’s changed our lives in so many ways, on so many levels and it all started with Mr. P. His warm, hysterical, charismatic personality united our families - starting at St. James in 1974 and continued in each of the 45 blessed years that followed. He is remembered so warmly and will be missed greatly.

My sincerest condolences to the Pollicino Family .Big Joe was a true icon in the finance world and will be sorely missed. He was a man looked up to by his peers and looked to for guidance and advise. I first met Joe when he worked for MHT and eventually worked with him at CIT. I have fond memeories of my time at CIT and remember the impact his leadership had on all. Despite being the Vice Chairman he never hesitated to offer his assistance or guidance to anyone who needed it. He personally helped me in winning the mandate on some very visable transactions and never took credit for his part in our success. While he had a tough demeanor in his approach to managing the business he had a big heart and always supported his team. He impacted so many in such a positive way providing the template for leadership for many others in the financial industry.
I know how much his family meant to him and how much he looked forward to spending time with them. I know how much they will miss him and I will miss him also. Great men leave behind great memories. RIP Big Joe and may God Bless your soul.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Pollicino Family.

It has been almost forty years and we still remember Joe pulling into our driveway and introducing himself as our "new neighbor" down the block. We both had moved to Manhasset within a few months of one another and he made us feel so welcome.
We have enjoyed many years of a wonderful friendship, getting to know Margaret and Joe's children and grandchildren that he was so devoted to.
Joe always had an upbeat greeting for everyone he saw, making your day a little bit brighter. We can still see him driving past our house with his famous cigar in hand. We will miss him dearly. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Margaret, Joe Jr., John, Kerry and all their children.

I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I still remember working at Manufacturer's Hanover one summer in a job that he helped secure for me, as a rising sophomore in college. While I wish I could say I loved the job (I didn't! Reconciling payments on high-risk corporate loans..) it definitely helped me figure out what I DIDN'T want to do! But what I appreciated so much, was the hand extended to help secure the job; the humor and good cheer whenever we spoke, and all of the grace with which Joe navigated life. Sending my love to the family, at this time of great loss. Hold close those great memories, for that's the life that lives on. XOXO

Joe P. meant so very much to me and, by extension, our entire family. We worked together for years and he was always so supportive, so professional and a truly dedicated leader. Stories abound where Joe sought out world class medical professionals to assist when one of his flock became ill. May Joe rest in peace and may his family have God's grace in these troubled times.
