Obituary of Joyce Madigan

Joyce M. Madigan of Great Neck was born in Swickley, PA on February 7, 1944, and passed away at Calvary Hospital Hospice on July 31st after a short battle with cancer. Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Tom Madigan, Sr. She leaves behind her son, Tom, Jr. (Jill), daughter Dawn (wife of the late Gene Tricario), and son Kevin. Her adoring grandchildren Ashley and Cassie Madigan, Nick and Jenna Tricario, and many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends. She is also survived by her sisters Fritzie (Rod) Hawley of Mesa, AZ and Charlene Davis of Port Charlotte FL and brother Jim (Joyce) of Boynton Beach FL. Joyce moved to Great Neck from Pennsylvania at the age of 13 and graduated from Great Neck North High School. She loved to travel and cruise with her family and friends. She always made room in the house for family and friends whether it was a bed to sleep in or a meal to eat. She loved to cook, and her house was always the place to be for holiday celebrations. Joyce worked for the Town of North Hempstead for 37 years in the Finance Department and retired in 2017 as the Director of Personnel. There will be no visitation or public service in an effort to keep loved ones safe. A memorial service celebrating her life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
