I only learned of Tony’s passing this morning. We were classmates at Bishop Reilly High School. What wonderful tributes you all wrote. I could see the Tony a knew in all of them, even though I hadn’t seen him in over fifty years. He was as great a guy even then as you knew him. What a wonderful soul. Condolences to his family and friends.

Some of you may not know this but Mr. Colavita was Vinny's soccer coach for a few seasons. I always lucky enough to be on that team and Coach Colavita is still one of my favorite soccer coaches! He was a terrific man who has a wonderful family! He will be truly missed!

Tony was my law partner and friend for 37 years. He was as fine a human being as I knew. He was respected by all who witnessed his legal prowess and they appreciated his high level of intelligence. While his professional accomplishments are great, I think he will always stand out as a person who was genuinely interested and sincerely cared for all people he met in whatever walks of life. He took the time to get to know every employee in the firm and to learn about their likes and dislikes, their daily routines and their special occasions. When times were difficult at the firm, he brought smiles and positive attitudes to make us all feel better. He was the life of our parties and the person we all wanted to be around. I don't know of a single person who has anything bad to say about him. I feel as though an important part of my life has just disappeared. All of us at the law firm are so saddened by his passing and I think we all recognize the firm will not be the same without him walking the hallways and greeting everybody with a smile. The world is a much better place for his being here. I hope we can all say that when our time comes.

I was saddened to hear of Tony's passing. I only knew him a short time because my firm BartlettLLP, shared office space with his firm. When we met a little over a year ago, we connected immediately because of both of our love for the New York Mets. I would love to talk to him about the Mets but I also enjoyed listening to his stories about any sports teams. To me, he was very entertaining and just another one of the guys. No matter what, he always greeted me with smile and a story. He was a real class act and will be missed by many and lunch time at the office will never be the same. My condolences to his family and to all at L'Abbate.

I had the honor of being Tony’s daughters college roomate and close friend and luckily got to spend lots of time with the family. I’ll always remember our trip in Italy when Emily and I were studying abroad and Tony and Adrienne drove us to meet my italian family- oh the Limoncello that was had. It was one of many fun time and I feel lucky to have known Tony and be around his warm funny and kind presence. His love for his family was always evident and he will be truly missed and always loved and remembered. Love to the entire family.” Love, Kristin Bilella

Where do I begin? How do I say goodbye? 35 years of sharing our lives together. I have logged in more time with Tony than just about any other human being, aside from Donna. We spoke every other day; we shared everything – business, sports, family good times and problems. We discussed books and TV shows (GOT), sports, religion and yes politics. We disagreed on so many things like sports (Yankees vs Mets), religion, not so much that we disagreed as much as faith vs science. Tony as we all know was extremely intelligent and well read and therefore, needed more proof. I just believe based on faith. I guess his training as an attorney, demanded proof or at least a healthy challenge. However, he totally understood my positions and was very supportive, never argumentative. I can’t say he was as understanding when it came to politics. Again, we had very different beliefs and both felt very strongly about our positions but like all things we disagreed on, we respected each other’s views and never argued over them; many times teased and laughed about it in a healthy “American” way. With there being so many areas where we were so different, it is amazing we were such great friends, best friends.
I looked to Tony and trusted Tony with all my most important decisions, about life and about business. He knew more about me, my family and my business than anyone. He represented me in business on several occasions. He helped me with strategy. I bounced everything off him. He never let me down.
But more important than the above, I will miss Tony for all the good times we shared. All the laughs, all the vacations and the dinners. For “Boys night out”, for dozens of vacations in Montauk, for our Italy trips, for Disney and Key West vacations, for our bike rides, for being part of all the big events in our families’ lives especially the weddings (who will ever forget Tony the dancer?) and special birthdays. All good times; laughter and love.
Tony was always in a good mood. Always ready to listen and help. Extremely caring. A rock for me and my family, a steady influence, a most trusted advisor and loving friend. A void in my life that can’t be filled. A friendship that can’t be replaced. He told me recently that “if you are right, I will see you in Heaven and we can spend eternity together”. I told him “I am right” and I look forward to the day I see him again (just not too soon).
Tony, I love you and always will. I miss you so much already and don’t know how I will go forward without you. But I do know I will see you again. Rest in peace and thank you for your tremendous friendship. Say hello to Jesus for me (and Joe & Billy). Keep my martini on ice for the many “Boys nights out” in the future. Someday the 5 of us, including Ollie, will reunite and eat, drink and be merry. Until then, I remain forever your Sally pally.

I only got to know Tony when my wife and I got season tickets to the Pirates near him and Adrienne. We regularly chatted and I knew what a good, kind man he was. The most wonderful memory I have is during many games when it was not looking good for the Pirates, I and my seat mates would look down at halftime and wait for Tony to turn around and give his perspective on whether the team could still win or not. But it was never with words! Always with a gesture and a facial expression. We had to learn to interpret. Was that shrug a sure loss? Was that wobble back and forth a good sign or doubt? Was that facial twist a harbinger of a great victory to come? In time we got the interpretation and sure enough, the Tony C interpretive mime-gesture was almost always right. He called em. It has been my honor to know him, even if just for a little bit. A fine dear man. We keep you always in our hearts.

Tony, you will truly be missed by all. Your infectious smile, your awesome sense of humor and the ability to make everyone feel like part of your inner circle is unmatched. I feel blessed and lucky to have worked with you but even more lucky to have laughed with you. I loved being one of your Secret Santa elves every year and I'm glad to have witnessed you dancing to "Shout" and doing the worm on the dance floor and even the conference room floor. You really did light up a room and it's much dimmer now. I know you will be rocking with the angels and watching over us all. My deepest sympathies to your family. Rest in peace.

I have many good memories of LBCC events, but my favorite is the 2018 Holiday Ugly Sweater Contest where Bill McCaffery had a sweater made with Tony's face on it. He was such a good sport as always!

I joined LBCC only three short years ago, but from day one Tony was so welcoming and made everyone feel like you are part of a family. I looked forward to his AM walks around the office where he would greet every employee with a hearty Good Morning. During the day you knew Tony was coming down the hall as he would often be singing a tune in his unmistakable timber...

Tony was not just a talented lawyer and a great boss—but a true friend. I could talk to him about everything and anything. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren—Elden and Nathalie, who meant the world to him and always brought a smile to his face. My deepest sympathy to Adrienne, Diana, Vinnie, Lauren, Emily, Alex, Elden and Nathalie. I will forever hold close to my heart the friendship we shared throughout the years we worked together. “Anna” being yelled out from down the hall at LBCC, 122 times a day, will forever echo in my head. Tony, with a broken heart, know that I will truly miss you!

Tony was my brother in law and friend for almost 50 years. He always welcomed us into his home and was extremely generous. Over the last few days as I’ve passed along the sad news, everyone has remarked on how much they loved talking to Tony. He was interesting and interested. The Mets were always a topic as well as Big East basketball, Montauk and of course politics. Whether it be the backyard in Manhasset or the deck in Montauk Tony’s laugh made everything alright. Thank you A, Diana,Vin and Lauren, Em and Alex,Elden and Nathalie for sharing him with us. Love you, Aunt Mary B

I met Tony in early 1983 when we were critically seeking our first attorney to join us during the infancy of our relatively newly formed venture. For me, it was “love at first sight”, with Tony affirmatively checking off each and every box containing the criteria we established - he was not only highly intelligent, experienced, a straight shooter, honest, friendly and reliable, but he was also brimming with unmatched personality and good humor. Those enviable characteristics continued through each of the years that I worked closely with Tony, and he played such a pivotal role together in fostering enjoyment of our practice of law. And many years ago when I decided as one of the founding partners that the time had arrived for me to turn over management of the firm, I knew it would be in capable hands with Tony as one of those at the helm.
What I have in the past number of years and will now forever miss most about Tony is the camaraderie we shared and both the professional and personally jovial times together, no matter how difficult the tasks and issues were that we encountered. But now, with a broken heart I will hold those memories close, and take some comfort that Tony will rest in peace.
Our sincerest condolences to Adrianne, his children Dianna, Emily & Alex, Vinnie & Lauren, and who Tony said were his pride and joy - grandchildren Elden & Nathalie.
