Growing up in Mpls, MN and loving The Yankees! I couldn’t even stand it if The Twins beat em’. My grandmother had me read a book about Mickey Mantle, and Whitey and Yogi were all the Glaze of a great generation of Pinstripe ball. I’m wishing him, his family, and the whole organization continued success with a great new lot of boys to go and bring home another few pendants, or more; God Bless.

A highlite of my life was meeting this warm and humble giant. I am proud we both come from Astoria. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord

Like everyone who has praised the great career of Mr. Edward Charles "Whitey" Ford, he certainly was the G.O.A.T. of epic Yankees pitchers, but more so, he was a true New Yorker, and honored the legacy of great New Yorkers with grace, character, and what all great New Yorkers possess, chutzpa.
It just so happens that my father., Mr. Neil Esposito, also of Astoria, was a boyhood acquaintance of Whitey, also played with the 34th Ave. sandlot team, and also preceded Whitey to the Manhattan High School of Aviation.
I also had the great pleasure of meeting Whitey on several occasions, and in each instance, he was friendly and gracious.
So on behalf of myself and my family, and in the memory of Mr. Esposito, who passed away in 2010, and whose services were also handled by Fairchild at the time, our sincerest condolences to Mrs, Joan Ford and family.
God bless, and rest in peace, Whitey.

I remember caddying for Whitey Ford and his wife when I was a kid at North Hills Country Club in Manhasset, Long Island. I remember him saying to his wife, "I think our caddy's in love". I was tired and I guess I wasn't focused, but trying to find his ball in the woods was a bit exhausting. He hit the ball a mile but shanked a lot of them into the woods.
He gave me a ride to the city line by Deepdale general hospital in a light blue caddy (no pun intended) Cadillac. God Bless you, Whitey! I got the opportunity to caddy for a legend!
