Obituary of Evelyn Sullivan
Please share a memory of Evelyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Evelyn Sullivan passed away on February 22 after a brief illness, having enjoyed a long and fruitful life. Born in Brooklyn, Evelyn and her family moved to Manhasset in 1966 and was always happy, as she would say, “to have found this place.”
Evelyn was a master bridge player and spent many days enjoying playing cards with her friends. Evelyn was an avid tennis player and won a number of trophies in both singles and doubles tournaments during the 1970s. Later on, she enjoyed becoming a late adopter of golf.
Most of all, she loved her time with her family; whether traveling, dining out, or just being at home, she was always game for a good time. A mother of three daughters, Lisa Twomey (Brendan), Beth Sullivan (Terri), and Nancy Holweger (Kurt), Evelyn was also a doting grandmother to three granddaughters, Katie Kyle (Matt), Kristin Twomey (Conor), Jillian Holweger, a grandson, Matthew Holweger, and her newly arrived great granddaughter, Abigail. Her love, her smile, and her amazing blue eyes will be missed by all of her family and friends.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Dick, her brother John, and her parents, John and Donata Gardella. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her sister, Susan Brown (Ron), and several nieces and nephews. Services will be limited to family members.
Funeral Services will be private
