I am sorry to hear about your father’s passing. He was one of the last remaining first cousins from my father’s (Frank Fattizzi) family, the others being Donald Di Costanzo, his sister Lucy’s youngest, myself and my sister, Frances Fattizzi Iasso. As we were younger, 30 and 24 years, respectively, we did not have a lot in common , but there were some happy get togethers at his parent’s home in Port Washington. In fact Gerry reminded me of his father, jovial and interesting to talk to. I spent some time with Gerry and Eva when they were first married and babysat for Francis. Dear Gerry, I am grateful for all the great moments we spent together in Sweden, Brussels, New York and France. Lots of laughing and having fun. First time in Burgundy on a bike tour with Eva and other friends followed by many years of friendship. You lived a fantastic life and made your beautiful family proud of you. My deepest sympathy goes to all of you, I am saddened and very sorry for the loss of your father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He was truly an astonishing, and by many people looked up to, a man with many facets his personality. I loved him, and we have followed each other for so very many years e.g. all of my grown-up life. The years of my life that I spend in America seem right now all gone, and it has left a big black hole in my soul. What an amazing life Gerry had! I will never forget the way his smile quickly reached up to his eyes and lit them up so all present could see his warm eyes. Also, the way he loved you; his children, spouses, and grandchildren with every piece of his heart. I miss them both, my sister and my brother-in-law and I am so happy that I was with them in their life as well. Such a strong man will never truly be gone for he has left a loving presence in all of our hearts. I am mourning Gerry, my friend, together with all of you in these trying times.
