Obituary of Perry L. Giaccone
In Loving Memory
Perry L. Giaccone (1927-2021)
On October 25, 2021 just after midnight, a wonderful life came to an Earthly end and headed on to the next great journey. Perry Giaccone, 94 (born Pierina Lillian Sottosanti on July 3, 1927), devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt and friend, passed peacefully at home in the loving arms of her daughter, companion and care-giver Barbara, to join her beloved husband of 67 years, George (born Joseph, 1921-2017) in heaven.
Besides each having two first names, they had four children. With George as Captain and Perry, his able lieutenant by his side, the family enjoyed a magical life filled with fun, laughter and most of all, love. Together, Perry and George waltzed; no – cha-cha-chaed through life, soul mates in the truest sense of the word, traveling the world, bowling, partying, making lifelong friends wherever they went – LIVING life to the fullest and taking the kids (and later their spouses and grandkids) along for the ride.
Always knowing, smiling, instilling confidence with grace and consideration for others, Perry was the mother everyone else wished for – but only her children were blessed to have. And funny? You bet! Though never upstaging hilarious George, neither did she play second fiddle; rather, this raven-haired beauty was his talented co-star and pitch-perfect straight (wo)man. They probably already share top billing in the Cloud 9 Lounge!
To say she was always on the move would be an understatement. Since their marriage in 1949, Perry, George and the fam moved more than 20 times – without ever leaving Long Island but for a short stint in Florida – quite a feat considering they were never in the Witness Protection Program.
Ever so fortunate and grateful to have Perry in their lives for so long, the family will miss her terribly, nonetheless. Perry is survived by her children Susan, her husband Will and their son Perry; Joseph, his wife Tracy and their children Kevin, Trevor and Taylor; Barbara and her son Christopher; and Michael, his wife Corinne and their children Nicole and Kevin; additionally, by sister Vilma and brother Vincent; younger sister Maria recently entered heaven.
Brokenhearted over this great loss as we are, the family celebrates the life of our shining star, matriarch of the family, loved and admired by all, and invites you to celebrate a life well lived, a beautiful soul never to be forgotten. God bless you, Perry, Mom, Nan – please continue to watch over us with Dad. We love you!
In lieu of flowers, Perry’s family requests that you make a donation in her honor to one of your favorite charities
