My thoughts and prayers go out to Alba, Dominick, John, Gina & Louie and the whole Pedone Family, my heart aches for you all.
I've known John my whole life both John my Dad grew up together on the other side of the lake in Corato where both our family's had a very strong bond and if it wasn't for John, my parents would have never met here in our great land especially in Port.
The stories I heard from both John & Dad it always grabbed my attention they were some great stories being passed down and some great lesson taught but it always ended in some great laughter, thank you!
John always had a smile no matter the situation along with a huge heart of gold and always lending his hand to help others in his unique way. But what's most special to me was that the man was fearless, I guess that's why John and my dad spent many quarters on a diner on Main Street listen to the song "Big John" on the jukebox.... Just like the many great stories I heard from Dad & John because during the most frightening time on which we all witnessed during the pandemic on which I/we lost my mom too, may mom RIP,. John took it upon himself and visited my Dad to comforted him during the most sadden times my Dad was going through, exactly what great friends do.. But what amazed me more was the next level of being fearless was when we heard John was fighting his own battle and never showing any weakness of sympathy of, one would have never known what he was fighting. He always made sure to reach out to my Dad and on a few occasion in his most weaken stages on which was just recently he traveled from his home in Glen Cove to Port to visit his childhood Paisano, because the travel was to hard on my Dad to make, so John took it upon himself and made the drive. They would sit and reminisce and tell the same stories about, Frank you remember this and John you remember that especially John's older brother Angelo who just recently passed away reminiscing on they're good times they all had together. My father was most worried for his friend but then John would turn around and tell him, "Cheech" was a nickname for Frank, don't worry I'm going to be okay and I'll surprise you again he would tell my father. The man was tough just like the legend in the song "Big John". God Bless they're special bond we need more of this it's so priceless exactly what great friends are for. And I thank you for spending the most quality time with my Dad he loved you!!
John may you rest in eternal peace and may the heavens greet you with open arms and please say hi to Mom and Heaven just gained another great Angel until we meet again "Big John".
