Obituary of Patricia C. Butler

Patricia C. Butler (née Coughlin), 90, died on December 29, 2021. Pat was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 20, 1931 to the late Dudley F. And Carolyn L. Coughlin. After Pat graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Staten Island, New York, Pat pursued a career in the arts, studying acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York. Later, she shared her vocal talents singing with jazz quartets, appearing often at The Village Vanguard and touring extensively throughout Upstate New York. For many years, Pat worked as a fashion coordinator at “Martha’s”, a well-known fashion boutique featuring couture designers in their Park Avenue location. Pat enjoyed her client relationships and was extremely knowledgeable about fabrics and wardrobe creation. A true New Yorker, Pat’s family moved to Manhattan when she was young and Pat always loved living in the city. Pat relished the opportunity to discuss and debate a variety of topics from current news items and politics to the latest food offerings at her favorite restaurants. She particularly enjoyed speaking with young people and learning about their interests and goals. She is survived by her caring cousins Dr. Robert W. Coughlin (Roberta), Kathi Boyle O’Brien (Dennis), Eileen T. McCarthy and Richard J. Boyle (Denise), her niece Diane Coughlin Dawson (Paul), and nephew Gregory R. Coughlin. Her niece Anne Maeve Coughlin (Vincent Lenaerts) predeceased her. Pat also is remembered by her grand-nephews Christopher P. Coughlin and Adam Dawson, and grand-niece Fiona Maeve Coughlin.
