Bill and Joyce gently and warmly welcomed Karol and I when we first arrived at the church in Manhasset in 1974. We were out of our league with these talented and sophisticated people but they never made us feel that way. There are two standouts as we kept in touch over the years. One was a Mets baseball game when we sat with gloves at the ready in the outfield stands for a home run ball that never came our way. I wasn't much of sports fan but when our young son fell in love with the Yankees, I had to switch loyalties. Sorry, Bill! The other special memory was the wedding of Andrea (maybe Mark or David?) when I was the officiant. Karol and I had moved into the City and into a different world there but we were so delighted to be "called back" to help with a Viklund special event! There are a few other memories but in general I remember Bill for the generous and loving person that he was. Demond Tutu was once asked what he wanted on his gravestone and he replied, "He loved." Let the same be said of Bill, "He loved." AND, he was loved. God bless you all!

William was a good man. When I was hospitalized following a stroke, William was no longer able to drive. So he hired a car service to take him to the hospital, nearly an hour away. His kindness and our conversations have meant so much to me over the years.

My memories of William all involve him helping others. He was truly a mam with a big heart.

Too many memories to share of our Papa. Our family cruises were our favorite. We counted down the days all year until our February trips ❤️ Best man I have / will ever know.
