Obituary of Salvatora Morrocu

 Salvatora Morrocu passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Antonio Sebastiano. Loving mother to Gavino, Domenico, Maria Lucia, Francesca, Pierina and Graziella. Adored Nonna to Katherine, Gabriella, Ariana, Nicolas, Anthony, Anton, Alexandra, Sydney, Maxmillian, Sebastian, Olivia, Natalie, Stephan, Dean, Gianni and Marco.

 Salvatora was born June 18, 1930 and raised in a small medieval village in the mountains of Sardegna, Italy with her four siblings where life was simple and tranquil. She married Antonio in 1957 at the age of 27, and together they raised their four children in the same town while always searching for a more opportunistic life for their children. Antonio traveled back and forth between Switzerland and Sardegna working in the granite quarries until they decided to try their luck in the United States. So they packed up and left their families and all they’ve known their entire lives, and emigrated to America in 1969 where they joined Antonio’s immediate and extended family. In 1971, their family grew by two and they were now a family of eight.

 Salvatora worked for Thompson Industries in Port Washington while Antonio worked in construction until retirement and together they raised their six children to love each other and others and to always stay close to one another. After Antonio’s passing in 1997, Salvatora dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren, teaching them Sardinian traditions and how to love and respect one another. Besides her children and grandchildren, Salvatora was loved by her many cousins, nephews and nieces and friends.

 She spent her life teaching lessons to her children and grandchildren by imparting her vast wisdom. All her life, she never forgot her beloved homeland and traveled every summer back to Sardegna, which allowed her to pass her love of her homeland to her children and grandchildren.
