Obituary of Margaret Murray

Margaret Murray, known as Maggie to family and Marge to friends, passed away on July 25th, 2022. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1938 to Benjamin and Mary Ann Goss, joining siblings Phil, Brian, Marie and Tom with whom she remained close all of her life. She married Jim Murray in 1962 and moved to Manhasset with their four children, Kevin, Nancy, Kate and Stephen in 1973. 

Maggie was known for many things in her life - her generosity, kindness, selflessness, sense of humor, compassion, love of reading and the prolific amount of blankets she tirelessly crocheted as charitable donations. Her Thanksgiving Day feasts were legendary, with a house overflowing with generations of extended family and no shortage of laughter-filled stories of hijinx and mishaps. In her life, she was a lifelong Catholic and found faith and solace in her love of God. Maggie was blessed with a wide circle of friends. She will be missed by all and  well remembered as a dedicated friend, mother, grandmother and wife. 

She was the proud grandparent to Finn, Nissa and Orla and the loving mother-in-law to Jamie, Ian and Susan. The family is forever grateful to Eligio, Carolina and Ann Marie for their generous compassion in her final years. Maggie is preceded in death by her husband Jim who died exactly one year to the day before her.
