Obituary of William Zaccaria
On August 16th, 2022, William Joseph Zaccaria passed away peacefully at home after a prolonged battle with cancer. Stubbornly resilient and uniquely humorous until in his final days, Bill always did it “his way”.
Born December 4th 1953, the eldest of two sons, Bill grew up in Douglaston, NY with a tight knit group of friends, incredibly loving family and a unique passion for anything with an engine - things he carried forward until the day he passed.
After college, Bill attended law school where he turned his life long passion for real estate into a reality. Routinely at his desk prior to 6am, Bill’s work ethic was only matched by his compassion and love for friends, family, colleagues, children and animals. During the holidays, you could find Bill dressed as Santa Clause, driving to a children’s hospital in one of his old cars filled with toys to deliver gifts
In his free time, Bill loved to play golf, go for a cruise in one of his antique cars, get out on the water or have lunch with friends. Bill was everyone’s “rock” and could always be counted on in good times and bad.
Bill leaves behind his brother James (Lydia), two sons, Alex and Joe (Ruth), grandchildren and an extended family. Bill was predeceased by his mother and father, Anastasia (née Zouvelekis) and Jack.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, August 18th at Fairchild and Sons Funeral Chapel, 1570 Northern Blvd Manhasset NY 11030 from 7pm to 9pm and Friday from 3pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in the name of William Zaccaria to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
