Obituary of John A. Schof

John Anthony Schof, 90, passed away peacefully in his home on September 6, 2022. “Jake” was born on January 17, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the youngest son of Joseph and Anna Schof. He loved his siblings Rita, Mary, Ruth, and Joseph and his time spent with them, their spouses, and children throughout the years.

Jake was an actuary for New York Life for 34 years. When he retired, his hobbies included golfing, biking, traveling, playing Texas hold ‘em, and running – completing 4 NYC marathons.

His true love was his family. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 30 years, Eileen. He leaves behind his son John Schof and his wife Mary, their children Jake and his wife Lauren, Bud, Peter, Joey, Timmy, and Willie; his daughter MaryPat Eilbacher and her husband Bob, their children Bobby, Matty, Ellie, and Dominic; his stepdaughter Cathy Wheeler, her son Christopher and his husband Joe; his stepson Stephen Pober and his wife Maureen, their children Brian and his wife Jamie, Stephen, and Christine; his stepdaughter Christine O’Donnell and her husband Ed, their daughter Ciara; his stepson Thomas Pober and his wife Teresa, their children Jackie, the late TJ, and Anna; his stepdaughter Barbara DelGuidice and her husband Ron, their son Justin and his fiancé Kristina; his stepdaughter Patty Callahan and her husband Terry, their son Danny; his stepdaughter Eileen Marquit, her son Ian; and his great-grandchildren Cassidy, Owen, Rooney, and Hudson. Jake also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their spouses who he loved dearly.

Jake will be remembered as a wonderful father, a devoted husband, a loving brother, a true friend, the ultimate gentleman with a beautiful smile and sparkling green eyes, a devout Catholic, and a child of God. May he rest in eternal peace.
