My dear friend,
I'm so sorry that I did not hear of your passing until now. It breaks my heart that time has passed so quickly and we have not spoken, You were my best friend and sounding board at a difficult time in my life. You helped me weather life and come out on the other side strong and independent. You believed in me and valued my opinion. I'm eternally grateful. There are few people who influence you as much as you did me.
Rest in peace.

After a fitting and wonderful tribute day for Richard, i neglected to mention a story that the “kids” won’t remember because i was only 13. in the 1960’s we all lived on 242nd street in Queens. Lollie and Richard (fortunately) could only find a house around the block, where the backyard conveniently bordered the grass and the roadway of the Cross Island Parkway. (You know, just south of the Union Turnpike exit.). It was Fourth of July and Richard was determined to show off his new barbecue and the fireworks that he bought undercover in Queens. Sundown, dinner over, Lollie in the kitchen getting dessert, neighbors settling into their backyard chairs for the hyped up fireworks show. Ready? Go. Start with a few Roman Candles, sparklers for everyone. and then the finale. A Huge rocket aimed for the black sky. Nestled in a pot of sand for safety. Richard lights the fuse, everyone’s holding breaths. the rocket rises, but then levels off and takes off across the parkway, missing moving southbound traffic by inches. Well, that concluded the July 4th show, for 1963 and forever! It’s that bravado that will continue to inspire every one of us! Richard had undeniable confidence….

Uncle Richard was the ultimate storyteller. There was a story for every topic—- no shortage. The most enticing part was the joy and laughter he brought to all of his vignettes. Richard loved to laugh at his own jokes. And part of the “glory of Richard” was the constant quips and he shared his view of the world with abstract humor and hysterical commentary.
It was always special to visit Lollie and Richard. Her culinary talents could not be rivaled. And she did it with such ease.
But it was the walk into “Richard’s den” that would always mesmerize anybody who had the opportunity to visit. Richard was the earliest adaptor of technology i have ever known. Richard had a HUGE screen TV when his parents were still watching TV in Black & White. This was a man so ahead of his time.. … he never failed to enthrall anybody who walked into “THE DEN”.
Todays lunch was so reminiscent of the Lifetime of heartfelt Stancati moments and LOVE.

Our sincerest condolences to Lollie and her family, and with gratitude for all the many wonderful evenings, events, meals, banquets and overnight stays we enjoyed in Melville as members of the USMMA Parents Association Executive Board. Your kindness and lavish dinners were always appreciated, elegant and legendary. You were hosts in an era that will never be repeated or replaced. Thank you so much for so much joy and laughter over the many years we have enjoyed your company. You both will be forever remembered and loved! Mary Jane and Rocco Fuschetto

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Richard was wonderful man. I will never forget his kindness when Jay and I were planning our wedding. I was also very lucky to end up working with him and Lolli for several years later at Kings Point. May Richard Rest in Peace. Sending love to the entire family.

Richard was the coolest uncle anyone could wish for. When I was 8 and sick, Lollie and Richard sent me cards every day. He was there for my first communion, confirmation, graduation, wedding, our son's christening (we stuck him with a boring guest at the luncheon because we could count on him!), our son's baby shower (he's endured!), and we shared endless laughs about his sister/my mother. Richard had an unparalleled sense of humor. Now for the "cool" part. We all grew up on the same block and he started a band-Richard played the trombone and loved it so much that he hung it the living room wall of his first apartment. He worked endlessly-selling vacuums, starting businesses, playing Santa Claus in the park, and proudly managing the club at USMMA. But his hobby was cutting edge at the time. He was passionate about technology, and always had the newest and best TV's, Stereos, VCR's. He had so many remotes that he glued them to a board. And while Lollie's domain was the kitchen, Richard's was his den. A holiday visit to the house meant an initial hour in the den looking at all the new equipment and viewing the newest movie on a VCR. If you revisited the following week he repeated the tour, forgetting that he previously took you through it. There were so many cables connected to the house that the FCC would sometimes park outside. Uncle Richard, I will miss you terribly-but you will always bring me comfort as I cherish all of the great lifetime memories. With love and ultimate respect, your Nephew Wayne,
