Obituary of Patricia M. Cardillo
Patricia (“Patty”) Morrison Cardillo, beloved mother of five and nana of 10 passed away peacefully at her home in Cary, NC on January 29, 2023.
Patty was preceded in death by her daughter, Jillian and mother, Jacqueline and leaves behind her loving husband of 55 years, John, their children John Jr. (Karen), James (Deirdre), Jacqueline (Eric) and Jeanne (Phil) and grandchildren, Jillian, Gina, Cailin, Brigid, James Jr., Katie, Emily, John, Patton and Charlie.
Patty was born to Charles and Jacqueline Morrison on October 18, 1948. She attended Munsey Park Elementary School and Manhasset High School, where she met her husband, John. Their love story began in 1964 and together they raised their family in Manhasset before retiring in North Carolina.
Patty could often be seen on the sidelines of a lacrosse game or any other sport her children were playing, spending time on the water at Port Washington Yacht Club or volunteering with the Visiting Nurses. She loved renovating and decorating homes which were the perfect backdrop for entertaining family and friends. She always made holidays special creating unforgettable memories for her family.
Patty lived with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for nearly 35 years and ultimately passed away after a short battle with cancer. Our “steel magnolia” was always a fighter and remained resilient until the end. As a devoted wife, mother and nana, she inspired all of her children to marry their best friends and start families just like she and John.
Please join us in celebrating her life. Visitation will be at Fairchild Sons Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 2 from 6-9 pm.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, February 3 at 11:45 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manhasset where John and Patty and all of their children were married. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the National MS Society.
