Obituary of Robert G. Bria
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert George Bria, 73, of Port Washington, NY, passed away at home on February 7th, 2023.
Robert was born on February 22, 1949 to Dominick and Theresa (Mannarino) and raised in Elmhurst, NY along with his brother John and sister Lola.
While attending Newtown High School he found music, particularly Rock and Roll, and playing the guitar. Robert took great joy in sharing tales of his playing days at the many clubs and with the budding luminaries of the day with whom his band shared the stage.
After marrying his high school sweetheart Susan, they moved to Long Island in 1972 and had their son, Jordan. Robert and his family settled in Port Washington in 1979.
As a young father Robert loved nothing more than spending time with his family (and cats) and being a doting father to Jordan, taking him on many ski weekends, enjoying days at the beach, yankees games, and riding bikes around town together.
Robert was a man of creative talents and interests, owning a cosmetology license and being a skilled hair stylist for many years including as a partner at a salon in Woodbury, NY. He continued to play guitar, eventually giving lessons and passing on his love of the instrument to others.
Perhaps most passionate was his quest to resolve “are we alone?” in the universe. Robert had extensive knowledge and a library of books that ran the gamut on the study of UFOs and extraterrestrial life. He was a consultant on a tv pilot, conducted speaking engagements to live audiences, and most recently partnered to launch a podcast series on the topic, logging dozens of episodes.
In recent years he relished being Papa Rob to his grandchildren, Olivia and Chase, watching their sports and activities proudly and praising them in all they did in life as they brought him endless smiles.
Robert was predeceased by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his son Jordan, daughter in law Ann Marie, grandchildren Olivia and Chase, his former spouse Susan Moss, as well as by beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visiting hours will be at Fairchild Sons Funeral Chapel (1570 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, NY) on Monday, 2/13 from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be at Nassau Knolls Cemetery (500 Port Washington Boulevard, Port Washington, NY), on Tuesday, 2/14 at 11:00 a.m.
