Obituary of Robert E. Fichera
Robert E. Fichera, age 78, passed away peacefully on February 9th surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.
Robert, also known as “Bob, Poppi, poopy and pee pee” was born on December 31st, 1944 to the late Mario and Madeline Fichera. He grew up in Brooklyn with his four sisters and two brothers. He was the second to youngest sibling in a large Italian family. They moved to Whitestone when he was 15 years old. In 1966 he met Joanne Ruggiero in a local pool hall in Whitestone. It was love at first sight! They were married for 51 years. Bob worked tirelessly to provide for his four children; Madeline, Kim, Salvatore and Joanna. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren; Jillian, Madeline, Isabella, Justin, Bobby, James, Andrew and Giavanna.
Bob was quick witted and always there to laugh with. He was the life of every party. He will forever be remembered for his jokes and light hearted personality. He will missed dearly.
