Obituary of John A. Iorio

With great sorrow, the Iorio family announces the passing of our loving, generous, and unimaginably brave husband, father, and papa. On March 8, 2023, John Anthony Iorio left the world surrounded by love from his supportive family. He was born on September 18, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, to Phil and Rose. There, he met and married his beautiful childhood sweetheart Marion on September 13, 1969. John leaves behind his three adoring grandchildren Patrick, Jianna, and Maria; his devoted children, Patrick and Jaime; his children-in-law, Denise and Louis; and his dedicated, loving wife of 53 years, Marion. John excelled in school and graduated from St. John’s University with honors. He was brilliant and worked nonstop to provide for his family. He first created Litemakers, Inc. from his garage in Brooklyn, later becoming one of the most highly respected lighting manufacturing companies in the United States. John’s success easily afforded him the option to do and have so many things many people equate with happiness. However, his happiness largely resulted from simple things. First and foremost, his family. Family dinners and vacations to Disney and Cape May leave us with unforgettable memories and the image of him smiling, especially when surrounded by his grandchildren. His dogs were his faithful companions as he watched sports, especially the Yankees. He was a proud papa who took an active role in his grandchildren's lives, cheering them on from the sidelines and attending so many school functions. John battled cancer for over a year and a half, enduring 36 chemotherapy treatments and aggressively fighting the horrible disease. We all know why he fought so bravely. John fought because he did not want to leave everyone he loved so much. His courage and strength will never be forgotten. He was beyond wise and taught us so many lessons, but by far, the greatest one is evident through his own example. Keep showing up and be present for everyone you love. Take the time, make an effort, and create memories with your family, because, sadly, tomorrow is never promised. No words can adequately express how much he will be missed. No words can express how grateful and blessed we feel to have had such an amazing person in our lives. His memory will live on in our hearts and minds forever
