Obituary of Jean Reid Izaguirre

Jean Reid Peters Izaguirre, beloved Wife of Luis Izaguirre, Mother to Michael Gavin Maher (Kristin) , Daniel Peter Maher (Rachel) , Thomas Brian Maher (Meesen). Grandmother to Jackson, Emersyn, Finley, and Gavin.  Succumbed to Multiple Sclerosis while in her bed at home in Bayside, NY on April 2nd (Palm Sunday).  Jean was a devout Catholic and an outstanding Mother who always put her family first despite her illness. Jean lived at home with her Husband Luis, Mother in Law Reyna, and Brother-in-Law Marco who took amazing care of her and Showered her with constant love and happiness.  Reid as she liked to be called was born on July 21, 1955 on Long Island to parents Ralph Frew Peters and Jean Coulter Crane and was one of 5 children (Rafe, Lulie, Melvin, Richard). 

Reid raised 3 boys in Port Washington and was an active leader within the community. Some of her fondest memories were her contributions to PYA and ST Peters where she volunteered for many years. In Reid’s later years she inspired many with her endless fight against MS. Despite her illness Reid was able to be a Mother and Grandmother to her children helping out however she could. Her love of Family gave her the strength and perseverance to battle the cruel disease with grace and dignity.  She will forever be our Champion.
