Please share a memory of Eduardo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gonzalo Eduardo Arboleda, 85, of Little Neck, New York, passed away peacefully at Long Island Jewish hospital on May 4, 2023. Eduardo, as he was known to family and friends, was born in 1938 in Quito, Ecuador as the oldest of six children to Gonzalo and Clarita Arboleda.
Eduardo leaves behind his devoted wife of 58 years, Mary Clarita; his children, Mary and Steven and their spouses Glenn and Marimba; and his grandchildren, Glenn, Michael, Emma and Vincent. He is also survived by his siblings Carlos, Susana, Jorge, Teresa, and Maria Cristina.
Having come to the US in 1961 to attend City College in New York, Eduardo ran into Mary, a friend from Quito. They married in 1964 and together they built a life in New York City and lived their own American dream. Eduardo was an entrepreneur and small business owner of a sewing machine and sewing craft store he established in 1972 and worked there until his retirement in 2005.
A salesman at heart, Eduardo had an outgoing and friendly personality with a kind and welcoming smile for all. He was a devoted family man, who took great pride in the accomplishments of his children, and especially of his grandchildren whom he adored, and he was adored by them. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his family and friends, playing chess, but especially doing anything with his grandchildren.
Eduardo was a deeply religious man who will be remembered and sorely missed for his love, sense of humor, sweet personality, kindness, and winning smile.
