Obituary of Frances M. Providenti

Frances Marie Providenti, 85, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Port Washington, New York. Born Frances Celandano on June 18, 1937, in Queens, New York to Frank and Anna Celandano, she married Anthony Providenti on July 25, 1964, and soon thereafter moved to Port Washington where they raised their four children. Over the past 25 years the couple split their time between Stuart, Florida and Port Washington. After the pandemic, Frances and Anthony moved back to Port Washington where they lived until the time of her death.

Frances is survived by her husband of almost 60 years Anthony, her children Karen Puritano, Anthony Providenti Jr., David Providenti and Joy Levine, daughter in-laws Erin Fitzpatrick and Donna Providenti, son in-law Adam Levine, as well as grandchildren Hannah, Troy, Allison, Abby, Jack, Jason, and Oliver. In recent years, Frances lost her two sisters, Connie Rossini and Marion Kulisan.

Besides spending time with her family, Frances had a passion for tennis, reading, bridge, the beach, baseball, clamming, cooking, and dogs of all breeds. She was an expert knitter and volunteered her time to numerous causes that were important to her including battered women, her church and the Down syndrome community. Frances had a bright and energetic personality and was known for her wry sense of humor and welcoming attitude. She touched many lives with her warmth and passion for life.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Tuesday May 23 from 3-5 and 7 to 9pm at Fairchild Sons Funeral Chapel located at 1570 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, New York.  A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 10am  at St. Peters Catholic Church located at 1327 Port Washington Boulevard, Port Washington, New York.
