Dear Katramados family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Kiriye Yianni was a role model for me in so many ways. In each role he played, whether husband, father, grandfather, professional or engineer, he was the gold standard. I will remember him fondly and always be guided by his example of how a gentleman conducts himself. May his memory be eternal, and may you all be blessed by it.
Zoe se esas.
Sincerely,
Peter Gianopulos

I will always remember him as a very alive, energetic and happy person. I remember and was impressed with how much he loved his family, including his dear wife and his dear granddaughter, my friend Maria. I met John in Cyprus back in 2011 -2012, while during his visit here with Maria, I interviewed him for my Cyprus Oral History Project. Among other things he shared his stories from when he was first in Cyprus and about the invasion. Dearest John, Rest In Peace and rest assured that your friends and loved ones will always remember you for your great spirit and energy among other things. I send strength and good vibes to your loved ones who will be devastated by your loss. Have a good trip...

I have met John several times over the years. He was a bright star! Always with a pleasant smile and a youthful exuberance about life. There was one time that he was putting in a new electrical service in George's garage. The job was challenging, as there was not much room, but he was just toiling away, undeterred and carrying on a pleasant conversation. There was no job too big or small that John wouldn't tackle! His can do attitude was certainly passed on to George, who with his dad, completed almost every single home improvement project.
His love for fishing was also well known. I used to get reports from George of John taking out the boat and fishing at all times.
He had an infectious spirit that will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to spend time with him.
He will be missed and his memories cherished.

I had the good fortune of having John and Katina as next door neighbors , since they built their home in Southold. Anytime my dad needed him; usually to fix a power tool, he dropped everything and came over to help. Everything he did was done with such grace and from the heart.
John, was one of the kindest men I have known. A man with “old fashioned,” principles, morals and ethos. Always quick to lend a helping hand, always so considerate and gracious, a true gentleman. John has been such a huge part of our lives and we loved him so , so much. My heart is broken , and I am sending my heart felt sympathies and condolences to his entire family. May his memory be eternal

A few words from your family , sister Archontoula , brother in law Yiannis , nieces and nephews from your homeland, Greece .
To this day when we read the letters you wrote so many years ago to your beloved mother Yiasemi (Jasmine ) and your beloved sister Archontoula tears of emotion flood our eyes from your sweet words and so you were always , a kind , joyful and loving man .
Your absence will certainly be felt by all of us. Together with dear aunt Katina, you built a wonderful family and raised children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that you should be proud of.
We will always remember you with love and we will miss you very much.
