She was born in Guangzhou, China, and grew up in Hong Kong, where she graduated from Pooi To Middle School and earned a bachelors degree in biology from Hong Kong Baptist University. While in Hong Kong, she met Victor Wu in 1968. They married in 1969. They moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where Paul and Teresa were born. Then in 1977, they moved to New York.
For 37 years, Alice worked for the US Postal Service in the Whitestone, Queens distribution center. She was a trusted colleague and later a respected manager, sometimes referred to affectionately as “the general”. In retirement, Alice was an avid gardener, always tending to her beloved begonias, petunias, peonies, and irises. She devoted herself to caring for her two younger grandchildren, Connor and Julia, thereby allowing Teresa to continue her career as a research scientist in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
